NY- Gargoyles and Statues on the Main Door

Ξ January 5th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇

The Cathedral at St John The Divine is the largest church in the United States. But what I find truly amazing is that no matter how many times I go by I find some new details carved by the master stone cutters.

I was walking by this morning and decided to take pictures of the two restored reliefs, one on each side of the main door. Without leaving my spot on the top step I was able to take all of these shots, and this is only one set of doors. This place is a photographers dream.

NY- West 113th Street

Noah Kaufman of the West 113th Street Block Association turned me on to this street sandwiched between Columbia University and Morningside Park. There are some really interesting old buildings such as St. Lukes, St John the Divine, and Engine 47 to name a few as well as some nice vintage apartments.
