NY- Last sunset of June burning up the sky

For the entire month of June my twins have been training for the Junior Olympics Taekwondo Tournament this week in Detroit. My days have been spent shuttling them back and forth to thier Dojang, tending to thier sore muscles, feeding them nutritious foods, and washing thier uniforms and sparring equipement. I have a new camera that I have been dying to break in but have been relegated to shooting sunsets through my window.

Next week when I get back that will change, but for now here are some shots of the final sunset of June 2008.

What do you get when you take one of the most historical neighborhoods in New York City and add a suburban shopping mall?

NY- Olafur Eliasson Lights Up The Brooklyn Bridge

Danish artist Olafur Eliasson turned on the lights tonight to his East River Waterfalls. It was quite a spectacle. If you get the chance you really should make a special trip to see it.

NY- Summer School Students at Columbia University

Columbia University Campus was full of students either trying to catch up or get ahead of thier classmates.

NY- Columbia University- Charles H Revson Plaza

Charles H Revson Plaza butts up against the Law School and the main campus of Columbia. It’s full of statues and a great place to watch the traffic roll up and down Amsterdam Avenue.

NY- West 113th Street

Noah Kaufman of the West 113th Street Block Association turned me on to this street sandwiched between Columbia University and Morningside Park. There are some really interesting old buildings such as St. Lukes, St John the Divine, and Engine 47 to name a few as well as some nice vintage apartments.

NY- Central Park- Poets Walk after the rain

The sun managed to stay out most of the day but thanks to the intermittent cloud bursts, the park turned a bright shade of green. It was as pretty a day for a walk as you can get.

NYPD- Search and Rescue Team on the job

The NYPD Helicopter was frantically searching the water while the divers sped up the Hudson River on the police boat, probably to save another boater who had too much to drink and tipped off his yacht.

NY- Museum of Natural History- Asian Peoples Exhibit

If you walk in the main door of the Museum of Natural History and go left until you pass the big elephants, you will find a pretty cool Asian Peoples Exhibit. It’s not as crowded as the dinosaurs so you can take your time meandering through the displays of all the main cultures of Asia.
