I had never been to Coney Island before but it seems that I have known about it my entire life. It turns out Coney Island is one of the most unique and original places I have ever been. I found a community full of passionate and individual characters that are at the core of what makes Coney Island, Coney Island.

The onset of development is encroaching on thier lively-hoods plus a lack of communication from the city has made the locals rightfully uneasy. It beehoves all of us who want to see Coney Island one day to make sure that the community is not bulldozed. The people who are Coney Island should be allowed to thrive right alongside your proposed remake.

Millions and millions of people around the world know about Coney Island and that isn’t because of a Planet Hollywood or Hard Rock Cafe. You can get those anywhere. So I plea to the developers not to be shortsighted and land hungry. If you want your hotels and condos full of people then a vibrant local community must be able to grow along with you.
