NY- Peregrine Falcon looks for lunch on the Upper Westside

I was sitting in the park today drinking my cup of coffee, watching a big fat squirrel groping for food when all of the sudden the squirrel freaked out, jumped under a bush, and tried to hide himself. He was shaking really bad, trying to hang upside down on a branch, and not being too quiet about it. I got up to leave and then saw what upset him; a big peregrine falcon, sitting on a statues head, looking around deciding what to eat. It’s a beautiful bird. I think the squirrel survived.

Thanks Melody, I think I asked some random fellow gawker if it was a falcon and they said yes. Never trust the man on the street. lol

Great capture of the raptor perched on the statue but it’s a juvenile red tail hawk not a peregrin falcon.
