Architect Richard Morris Hunt built the hostel, said to be the world’s largest, in 1883 as a home for war widows.

Today it is the world’s largest youth hostel with 672 beds, and nearly 100,000 square feet, the hostel is a city landmark.

Worst, most-poorly run hostel I’ve ever stayed at. The employees are very rude and don’t give a damn about guests. Yes, the photos look great from the outside, but how about some inside shots showing the reality of what guests have to put up with here?

    Great photos…

There are some larger hostels in Europe, like the Copenhagen HI hostel with over 1000 beds, as well as some independent hostels with 800 to 900 beds like Generator Berlin.
