Rupert Murdoch’s first Network Upfront Party at the Yacht Club was almost a rain out. It was storming so bad that the roof of the tent coverring hundreds of guests almost collapsed. Rupert grabbed the microphone, thanked everyone for coming, and then said “The Bar Is Now Open, Let’s Party”. Everyone did.
Ever since, FOX has given out umbrellas for good luck at thier upfront parties, at least they did as long as I was there, which was a long time. Now Rupert is a giant, the party is for thousands and has become a spectacle in itself. Who knows, maybe they’ll get lucky tonight at Trump’s Wollman Rink. The skies are gray and the weather says rain…

I didn’t get to go this year but my wife did, she is still with the company. She saw Will Arnett, who is doing some kind of animation-robotic show with Jason Bateman, I think they are teachers. She said it looked great.
I haven’t met any of the new fox celebs. I worked there when it was al Bundy, The Wayans, Tracy Ullman, Johnny Depp, Bev Hills, Melrose, and models. It was a different time back then a lot more “Wild, Wild West” than today.
But I am going to try to write a book this summer about those days so maybe next year at this time you can be reading it. :-)
Thanks for the pics! Did you were there yesterday? Did you saw Fox celebrities?
