I was waiting for the library to open when I saw one of my favorite cars of all time parked at the corner of Jay Street and Staples. A Cadillac Eldorado convertible. I called them “boat cars” when I was growing up, not because of their size, but because I used to see them cruising down the highways pulling big boats behind them all the time. This particular one was probably the last model before Jimmy Carter’s oil embargo shrunk them down to compact pieces of you know what. Believe it or not the earlier models were even bigger. Those were the days.
