I have been searching for a replacement for my morning Starbucks ever since they decided it was too expensive to serve the good stuff anymore and have been trying to pass off Pikes Place as coffee.
My history with Starbucks goes way back. One of the first stores outside of Seattle was next door to the Fox Network offices in Chicago. They got me hooked on good coffee and I was a faithful 4+ cup a day drinker until a couple of months ago when they changed thier formula.
I got sick of Pikes Place pretty quickly. I started brewing Fairway Sumatra at home and went to Barnes and Noble to get the good stuff the rest of the day. The only problem was that all important cup before school. The store at Chambers Street Station was too convenient to pass up and I couldn’t find an alternative in the neighborhood until today.
A couple of blocks north on Harrison and Greenwich sits Yaffa’s Tea room. The coffee is great, the bartendress is friendly and interesting, and I didn’t have to wait for a bunch of tourists to order thier breakfast sandwiches and milkshakes, passed off as coffee drinks.
My world is now complete.
